I called this section Costco Substitutions as a joke, because when you see the calorie statistics, you will want to find a food substitution for most of the items! These calorie statistics were attained from my local store! At the bakery, they readily handed me a printout of each of their bakery items. I went home with a huge file! At the Food Court, I was given a giant notebook and was able to copy down the statistics while I waited in line. It was confusing, because the calorie counts were not sized the same as their servings! It was a hassle to get these statistics, so I want to spare you the trouble!
Consistently eating at the bakery and food court would not be a healthy diet habit as you can see. As my son with autism recently stated, Mom, most of the people at the food court are overweight. Now you know why! This store definitely takes Portion Distortion to new heights! The scary thought is that most of us readily order there without thinking that the portions are too large!

Anyway you look at it its hard to come up with a healthy meal here! Maybe a hot dog and diet drink, but who can turn down a berry sundae, berry smoothie, frozen yogurt or the dreaded ice cream bar? I was excited when the turkey havarti cheese wrap came out because it sounded healthy. But alas, more calories than pizza! Who would have thought that? Pizza it is, and a diet drink of course! Might be a healthier choice to just find a substitution though?

Costco tends to do all things large. Many of these bakery items will be many grain servings and some of the desserts are almost half of your daily calorie intake. Most of them will not fit into your meal planning chart! A lifestyle solution would be to find a healthier Costco substitution recipe that you could do yourself. A scary fun thing to do is check out how many people buy Costco muffins! The healthy diet habit is know your calorie statistics! They may shock you and practice great portion control strategies!
